04 Jan Pro Tips: How to Prevent Dry Skin this Fall & Winter
The holidays may be over, but winter is not! Whether you have normal, combination, oily or dry skin, you’re bound to run into dry patches when the seasons change. But here are our pro tips to prevent and heal dry, irritated skin this winter.
1. Get a humidifier. The drop in drop in humidity in the fall and winter is taxing on our skin. To protect your skin against dryness, use a humidifier, especially overnight. We recommend using a boiling rather than ultrasonic humidifier – they’re a little more complicated but self-sterilizing. Make sure you place humidifiers away from walls, artwork, or anything that could potentially be damaged by moisture and make sure to check and clean them regularly!
2. Change up your routine. The products that might be enough to keep your skin healthy during the summer might not be up to the task of winter protection. You may need to use more intensive moisturizer, such as Neocutis® BioCream Riche (available at Youtherapy). Winter eczema can be soothed by products like Avene® Cicalfate. But don’t forget SPF – just because its cold doesn’t mean we’re not still exposed to skin-aging UV rays. We offer a line of Elta® products to protect every skin type.
3. Schedule a hydrating facial or a peel at Youtherapy. Our customized facial treatments address the individual needs of your skin, combining cleansing, exfoliation and hydration to leave your skin soothed and radiant. And our scientifically studied and medically approved high-grade chemical peels remove the damaged outer layers of skin to reveal a softer, smoother, younger-looking you. Chemical peels help diminish fine lines, acne, and skin discoloration while increasing the moisture retention of your skin. Consult with one of our experienced aestheticians to find the treatment that is best for you.
It will be bright and sunny again before we know it! For now, let’s treat our skin with extra care and attention – to stay as healthy, young, and radiant as we can during every season.
