CoolSculpting® Elite and CoolSculpting® Frequently Asked Questions

You’ve got questions? Youtherapy has the answers!

Here are some common queries many of our customers throughout Manhattan, New York City and Westchester County have had before embarking on a CoolSculpting Elite treatment. If you have others, feel free to call our offices and we’ll be happy to address them for you.

How does CoolSculpting work?

CoolSculpting was introduced in 2010 when it was cleared by the FDA as the only treatment to reduce fat with freezing technology, also known as cryolipolysis. This wasn’t the first case: studies reveal that in 1970, a girl left a Popsicle in her cheek for five minutes and experienced fat loss from the exposure to cold. In 1980, female equestrians saw a loss of fat on outer thighs after riding horses in cold weather. Thus, the beginnings of CoolSculpting formed. Perfected by Harvard doctors, the science-backed technology delivers real, permanent results!

Since CoolSculpting’s debut, over 6 million treatments have been performed nationwide! Youtherapy offers a state of the art experience with competitive pricing in the heart of New York City and Westchester.

Is it painful?

CoolSculpting Elite is a gentle and entirely non-invasive procedure. It does not require any anesthesia, needles or pain medication. Most patients experience no pain to minimal discomfort during this procedure. While everything necessary will be provided, you are welcome to bring any additional comforts of home such as music or pillows.

Is it safe?

The CoolSculpting Elite procedure is proven to be a safe and effective FDA-cleared treatment for non-surgical fat reduction. The procedure is performed under the supervision of Dr. William Greenberg or a trusted, experienced Bodysculpting Specialist. The technology enables precise, controlled delivery of the cooling that affects only fat cells on your body, ensuring that no surrounding tissue or cells are affected or damaged. Because CoolSculpting is non-invasive, there is no risk of infection, complications from anesthesia, or other side effects that are normally associated with surgery.

How long does it take to recover?

Results may vary for each individual but typically patients may resume their daily activities immediately following the procedure. You can even exercise right after the procedure. Mild redness in the treated area can last several minutes up to two weeks. Some people may bruise, which can last up to two weeks. Within the first two weeks you may experience, tingling, tenderness, cramping, itching or soreness. You may feel a temporary dulling sensation in the treated area for up to eight weeks. Side effects may vary and while many patients experience no reaction, others may experience mild side effects.

Can I return to normal work after CoolSculpting/Elite treatment?

Yes, you can. Since CoolSculpting/Elite is a nonsurgical procedure, you can return to your normal activities quickly after the treatment. You may experience common side effects, after the treatment, such as temporary numbness, mild soreness, and mild bruising. However, these symptoms are temporary and don’t require medication or time off from work or other activities.

Is CoolSculpting right for me?

CoolSculpting is designed for individuals who are healthy and fit, but want to reduce fat in areas of their body that have not responded well to diet or exercise such as the abdomen, love handles, thighs, back, arms, and under the chin. While CoolSculpting is a popular and effective alternative to liposuction and other fat reduction focused treatments, it is not intended for extensive weight loss, nor does it address problems with obesity.

How soon will I see results?

Generally, you should see results within 2 to 4 months.

How long do the effects last?

Fat cells do not reproduce or regenerate. Once the CoolSculpting system freezes fat cells, they will not reappear. A healthy lifestyle, with good nutrition and exercise, will maintain the optimal appearance of the achieved results.

Can I undergo more than one treatment?

After assessing the effects of your first treatment, speak to Dr. Greenberg or one of the technicians at Youtherapy about whether you could benefit from additional treatments. For more dramatic results, some patients opt for multiple follow-up treatments over the course of a year.

How much does CoolSculpting/Elite cost at Youtherapy?

CoolSculpting varies in price, depending on the amount of fat in the treatment area and is based upon your personalized treatment plan, put together by our Bodysculpting Specialists. To determine if you are a candidate for CoolSculpting, make an appointment at one of our offices today.
