What is Botox?

Botox is a convenient, non-surgical, beauty treatment for fine lines and wrinkles on the face as well as enhancing the lips. It may also be used for non-cosmetic concerns such as migraines, excessive sweating and TMJ relief.

Where is Botox applied?

Botox injections are often applied to the frown lines (between eyebrows), to crow’s-feet (the lines that fan out from the corners of the eyes) and on the forehead furrows (the horizontal lines that form when you raise your eyebrows). Botox can also be injected into other areas such as the neck for platysmal bands, the jaw for TMJ, and the lips for the latest trend, the Lip Flip.

Does Botox hurt?

The discomfort felt with Botox injections is negligible, since a very small needle is used for the injection the pain is minimal. The option to numb the area with either an aesthetic cream or a cold pack so that you do not feel any pain, is also available.

How long does a treatment typically take?

Botox treatments take about 10 minutes. The physician uses a very fine needle to inject Botox directly into the targeted facial muscles. There is no down time after treatment. You should be able to return to your normal activities immediately.

How long before I see results?

At the earliest, you may begin to see results within 24-48 hours. However, you’ll likely experience the full effect in one to two weeks.

How long does a typical Botox treatment last?

On average, Botox lasts 3-4 months, but results can vary from person to person. Some patients experience longer results, in the 4-6 month range, and some patients experience shorter results, in the 2 month range.

How often should I get Botox?

To maintain your youthful appearance and prevent additional signs of aging, you should be retreated as soon as you notice your wrinkles or fine lines reappearing.

How much does a typical Botox treatment cost?

Botox costs are among the more affordable of anti-aging injections. The typical range is between $300- $900, depending on the number of areas being treated and the amount of Botox being used.
