Dermal Fillers Frequently Asked Questions

You’ve got questions? Youtherapy has the answers!

From the Upper East Side in Manhattan to Eastchester in Westchester County, our savvy clients know to ask questions before embarking on any cosmetic procedure. Here are some of the most common we come across. If you have others, feel free to call our offices and we’ll be happy to address them for you.

What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are anti-aging injections that contain a hyaluronic acid based, gel-like substance, which can give the skin a rejuvenated look. When injected into the skin, dermal fillers quite literally ‘fill out’ lines and wrinkles, volumize hollow, sunken areas of the face and define and reshape facial features.

How are dermal fillers different from toxins such as Botox®, Dysport®, Xeomin® or Jeuveau®?

Botox® and its related products, Dysport®,Xeomin® and Jeuveau®, contain ingredients that relaxes muscles. This helps to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles caused by facial expressions in areas in the forehead, between the brows and crows feet. Dermal fillers, on the other hand, contain ingredients that add fullness to areas that have thinned due to aging.

Which dermal filler is the best?

Different injectable dermal fillers use different formulations and active ingredients to address different concerns – therefore, there is no “best” all-around filler. The team at Youtherapy stands by the efficacy of each of our offered dermal fillers. We’ve seen firsthand the results they can create for our patients. Whether you’re in search of wrinkle reduction, volume, smoothing, or lip fullness, visit our offices in either Manhattan or Scarsdale and we’ll can help pinpoint the best filler options for your needs.

Where can fillers be used?

Dermal fillers are used to erase lines and wrinkles and for facial contouring. Treatment areas include the nose, cheeks, marionette lines, nasolabial folds, lips, chin and jawline, the neck and the hands.

What are fillers made of?

The most common types of dermal fillers are made from hyaluronic acid, including the popular brands Juvéderm and Restylane. Hyaluronic acid is often favored over other filler substances because it is a naturally-occurring molecule found in the skin, which means it’s a safe material that’s well-received by the body.

How long does a dermal filler appointment take?

The treatment time will depend on the area being injected and how much filler is needed. But, generally, dermal filler treatments are quick, taking less than 20 minutes.

Are dermal fillers painful?

Your practitioner will likely apply a topical numbing cream to the target area to help reduce pain as much as possible. Lots of modern fillers also contain lidocaine, which will continue to numb the area with each injection.

Are there any side effects of fillers?

Side effects are usually minimal and can include swelling, redness and minor bleeding at the injection points – which typically disappear soon after the treatment but may take up to 14 days to subside in some cases.

What’s the recovery time of fillers?

There’s usually no downtime following a filler treatment, so you’ll be able to resume your plans as usual. In some cases, there may be some swelling from the initial injection and potential bruising. Any side effects you encounter should clear up within a few days of your treatment and will be discussed with you during your consultation with Dr. Greenberg prior to any injections.

Are dermal fillers safe?

At Youtherapy Medspa, we use the latest, top-of-the-line and FDA-approved dermal fillers to ensure the best, most effective results. With all injectable treatments, there is the risk of potential bruising and swelling. Dr. William Greenberg is a medically qualified practitioner, certified with the proper training and experience. With over 20 years in the medical injectable field, you’re in the right hands at Youtherapy.

How long do dermal fillers last?

When hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers are used, results typically last for 6-18 months. For non-hyaluronic acid fillers, results can last for years.

How much do dermal filler treatments cost at Youtherapy?

With all injectable treatments, each client must be evaluated by Dr. Greenberg to determine their customized treatment plan. Dermal fillers start around $625 for a half syringe and can go up from there, depending. Youtherapy is pleased to offer multi-syringe discounts.
